Strength/Storm Resistance of Concrete Homes -

4" thick reinforced concrete walls and 6" thick reinforced concrete floors and attic floors are formed and poured at the same time (a monolithic pour). The monolithic pour eliminates the traditional joints and mechanical connections between floors/walls/ceilings/roofs. This gives our structure tremendous rigidity to resist a myriad of perils.

The physical weight of a concrete structure minimizes the design concerns related to uplift. Uplift is created by horizontal wind forces. It is the major concern of light-frame structures. Concrete weighs approx. 4000 lbs/cubic yard. Our typical home utilizes over 250 cubic yards. That equates to a total weight well over 1,000,000 lbs. There is no wind force on earth that can overturn a 2-story concrete home.

Our concrete homes are resistant to catastrophic weather and disaster impact, and are built to last the tests of time and coastal elements. The concrete home air-borne debris resistance is much higher compared to a standard stick built home.

Disaster researchers at the wind research lab at Texas Tech University, simulated 250 mile-per-hour ground level wind speeds equal to the strongest hurricanes and tornadoes, their results were that steel reinforced concrete homes greatly out performed wood and steel framed homes.
